Rice Takes Fifth-Place at Season-Opening Rice Intercollegiate

HOUSTON — After having its fall season canceled due to COVID-19, the Owls returned to the links hosting the spring-opening Rice Intercollegiate at Westwood Golf Club.
Junior Harrison Hineline led the Owls in 22nd-place, carding a pair of 75's to finish six-over par. Sophomore Forrest Park had the best finish of his career, tying for 26th-place at eight-over par after posting a career-low 73 before closing with a 79.
Sophomore Thomas Bockholt III and junior Jack Diamond tied for 32nd-place at nine-over par. Bockholt carded rounds of 75-78 while Diamond had rounds of 78-75 to finish with a career-low 36-hole score of 153. Senior Rishi Kejriwal posted rounds of 80-74 to finish in 35th-place at 10-over par.
Senior Jake Benson finished 12-over par in 38th-place after carding rounds of 77-79. Junior Campbell Gibson tied for 39th-place at 14-over par after rounds of 77-81.
Freshman Rodrigo Martin, playing in his first collegiate tournament, finished 15-over par in 42nd-place after rounds of 77-82 while junior Austin Escamilla was 18-over par in 43rd-place with rounds of 79-83.
The Owls finished 30-over par in fifth-place with rounds of 304-302.
Baylor won the team title at 13-under par, six shots in front of second-place Houston. Baylor's Colin Kober and Johnny Keefer tied for medalist honors at five-under par.

"It wasn't the results we wanted today. Not at all. However, it was really great for us to get back out there and compete for the first time since March. We're ready to hit these next two weeks hard in preparing for the All-American Intercollegiate and a long stretch of competition."
