Rice Closes Border Olympics in Ninth-Place

Laredo, Texas — Rice carded an 11-over par 299 to finish 21-over par in ninth-place at the Border Olympics, played at the par-72, 7,297-yard Max Mandel Golf Course and hosted by Houston.
Junior Jake Benson tied for 20th-place at three-over par after carding a 74. It is his team-leading fifth top-20 finish of the year and 13th of his career.
Senior Nicholas Duggan also carded a 74 to finish four-over par in a tie for 26th-place. Freshman Thomas Bockholt III tied for 49th-place at nine-over par after posting an 80.
Junior Rishi Kejriwal tied for 66th-place at 12-over par after a 77 and sophomore Campbell Gibson rounded out play in 92nd-place with a 74.
Louisiana-Monroe won the team competition at three-under par, two strokes in front of Arkansas State. Sam Houston State's Noah Steele earned medalist honors at nine-under par, four strokes in front of ASU's Zan Luka Stirn and Lamar's Hugo Hellman.
