Benson Tied for Third after Cabo Collegiate First Round

Cabo, Mexico — Junior Jake Benson fired a three-under par 68 to sit in a tie for third-place at the Cabo Collegiate, played at the par-71, 6,807-yard Cabo del Sol, Cove Club Golf Course and co-hosted by Arkansas and Houston.
The 68 was Benson's third round in the 60's this year and ninth of his career. It is also his 13 round of par or better this year and the 36th of his career. Benson sits two strokes behind tournament leader Trevor Werbylo of Arizona.
Junior Rishi Kejriwal is tied for 15th-place at one-under par after carding a season-low tying 70. It was his sixth round of par or better this year and the 13th of his career.
Sophomore Campbell Gibson posted a four-over par 75 to sit in a tie for 60th-place. Senior Nick Duggan tied for 70th-place after a seven-over par 78 and freshman Thomas Bockholt III carded an eight-over 79 to sit in a 73rd-place tie.
The Owls are in 13th-place at posting a seven-over 291. No. 13 Baylor, No. 14 Arizona and No. 25 Oklahoma State are tied for the tournament lead at six-under par, three strokes in front of No. 9 Arizona State.
