
Dual Opener Moved to Sunday

In Brief: The Rice women's tennis team will have to wait an additional 24 hours to open their 2020 dual campaign as their season opener vs. Lamar has been moved back to Sunday at 1 p. m. due to anticipated rain in Houston on Saturday. Sunday's match is the first of nine home matches currently scheduled for 2020.

For Openers: This marks the ninth consecutive year the Owls have met the Cardinals to open their dual season with Owls winning each. Rice has won its last 11 dual season openers since falling to #6 Baylor to kick off the 2007 season.
Lamar: Rice has won the last 26 dual matches with Lamar, including 19 at home (16 at Jake Hess Tennis Stadium and three at GRBTC). The Owls last loss to Lamar came in 1980. The Cardinals finished 2019 with an 8-14 dual mark (5-6 in the Southland Conference).
George R. Brown Tennis Center: Rice has posted a 46-10 regular season record at GRBTC since making their debut at their new home by defeating Lamar 7-0 on 1/17/15. The Owls have also posted a 6-0 postseason mark while winning a pair of Conference USA titles at home (2015 & 2019).
