
Men’s Hoops Opens Islands of the Bahamas Showcase against Milwaukee

HOUSTON — Rice heads to the Bahamas this weekend for three games at the Islands of the Bahamas Showcase. The Owls will open the tournament on Friday, Nov. 22 against Milwaukee. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. and the game will be livestreamed by FloHoops.com.
Scouting Rice
• Rice enters today's game with a 4-2 record. The Owls had their four-game winning streak snapped on Tuesday, falling to Houston, 97-89.
• Sophomore Trey Murphy III leads the Owls with 14.5 points per game, 1.2 steals per game and 1.0 blocks per game while placing fourth in rebounds (4.8). He is also tied for third in Conference USA in three-pointers per game (2.7), fourth in three-point field goal percentage (39.0%) and tied for seventh in free throw percentage (83.3%).
• Senior Ako Adams is second on the team with 10.8 points per game and 3.2 assists per game. He is also fourth in the league in free throw percentage (88.9%).
• Senior Robert Martin is third on the team with 9.8 points per game and 5.7 rebounds per game.
• Sophomore Drew Peterson is fourth on the team in scoring (9.5) while leading the squad and tying for ninth in C-USA with 6.5 rebounds per game. He's also leads the team lead with 3.3 assists.
• Freshman Max Fiedler is tied for the team lead and ninth in the conference in rebounds per game (6.5).
• Rice is averaging 73.2 points while allowing 74.0.
• The Owls are connecting on 42.3% from the floor and 35.1% from three while allowing their opponents to connect on 45.1% from the field and 34.7% from three.
• Rice is outrebounding its opponents, 38.2-to-37.2 and is third in Conference USA in three-pointers made per game (9.8).
• Head coach Scott Pera is in his third season leading the Rice men's basketball program. He holds a record of 24-45.
Scouting Milwaukee
• Milwaukee enters Friday afternoon's contest with a 4-1 record. The Panthers have won three straight after defeating North Dakota, 79-70, Tuesday night.
• Senior guard Darius Roy leads the team and is third in the Horizon League with 17.0 points per game. He is also third in the league in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.), fourth in free throw percentage (78.6%) and sixth in both assists per game (4.0) and three-pointers made per game (2.3).
• Redshirt junior guard Te'Jon Lucas is tied for second on the team and ninth in the conference with 14.8 points per game. He also leads the league in assists per game (6.8), is fourth in both steals per game (2.2) and assist-to-turnover ratio (2.2), seventh in free throw percentage (77.4%) and 10th in rebounds per game (6.0).
• Junior guard Josh Thomas is tied for second on the team and ninth in the Horizon League with 14.8 points per game while placing sixth in the league in field goal percentage (53.3%).
• Redshirt senior guard DeAndre Abram is scoring 9.2 points per game and is tied for seventh in the conference with 2.0 made three-pointers per game.
• Milwaukee leads the Horizon League in scoring with 85.0 points per game while allowing just 70.4.
• Milwaukee is connecting on 45.2% from the floor and a league-best 35.4% from three while holding its opponents to 39.0% from the floor and just 29.7% from beyond the arc.

Rice-Milwaukee Series History
• This will be just the second meeting all time between Rice and Milwaukee and the first in the regular season.
• The only other meeting came in the first round of the 2004 National Invitational Tournament where the Panthers ended Rice's season with a 91-63 victory.

• When the Owls face Milwaukee, it will be just the fourth meeting against the Horizon League and the first since the 2004 NIT against the Panthers.
• Rice is looking for its first victory against the Horizon.
• In addition to the 2004 NIT matchup against Milwaukee, Rice also dropped a pair of games against Detroit in the 1988-89 and 1989-90 seasons.
