What Head Coach Rob Lanier Had to Say
"You have to give a lot of credit to (East Carolina). They really outplayed us from beginning to end. There was a little stretch in the second half where we made a run. They just outplayed us (and) outcoached us. They did a lot of things well. They're a good team. They're better than their record, and I think you saw that tonight. They're playing good basketball. They did a good job of changing their defense, and it put us off-balance offensively. I thought we adjusted well-enough in the second half. We got good shots, but didn't make enough of them, and didn't do enough with our presence on the offensive glass. But at that point, they already had control of the game."
The Stats
Rice was held to 38.2% (26-of-68) from the field, and 26.5% (9-of-34) from three, and was 14-of-16 (87.5%) from the free throw line.
