Cody joined the Rice University Sports Medicine Department in October 2021. He is responsible for managing the healthcare of the Rice Baseball team. Cody is also responsible for coordinating Institution drug testing along with the site coordinator for NCAA Drug Testing.
Cody is a 2016 graduate of Kansas State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training with a minor in Kinesiology. He received his Master’s of Applied Science in Sport and Fitness Management from Missouri Western State University in 2018 where he was a graduate assistant Athletic Trainer for the Griffons baseball and volleyball teams.
Prior to joining Rice, Cody served as a Minor League Baseball Athletic Trainer with the Detroit Tigers organization for four seasons.
During his time with the Tigers, he worked with the 2018 GCL Championship team and earned the honor of Gulf Coast League Athletic Trainer of the Year in 2019. He finished his time with the Tigers as the AT with the High-A West Michigan Whitecaps. Prior to joining the Tigers, Cody helped the Missouri Western State University baseball program to a central regional appearance and worked with the Volleyball program that won the MIAA Conference Championship in 2017. Additionally, Cody was an intern with the Atlanta Braves organization in 2016.
His professional interests and skills include arm care techniques, dry needling, PRI, Active Release Technique, post-injury rehabilitation, injury prevention, mental health, and holds additional certifications in SFMA and OnBaseU Hitting and Pitching.
Cody is a board-certified Athletic Trainer through the BOC and is a Licensed Athletic Trainer in Texas. He resides in Houston, TX.
