Men’s Track Ready for American Outdoor Championships

DENTON – The Rice men's track and field team is set for the 2026 American Conference Outdoor Championships this weekend at North Texas, with the three-day meet beginning Thursday morning.

Rice is projected sixth in the team standings, with several Owls in position to earn spots on the podium for their events.
Jack Greaves enters the weekend with the top throw in the javelin with 74.22m, while Ty Hampton sits second with a throw of 74.19m.
Sultan Bakare holds the top mark in the shot put with a throw of 18.27m.
In the hammer throw, Sultan Bakare sits second (61.79m) while Daniel Sowell is fourth (58.11m) for the event.
Juan Marais is slotted second in the discus, with a personal best throw of 58.49m.
After a big personal best last time out, Andrew Murray enters the meet ranked third in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 8:47.27.
Freshman Edward Bocock is ranked fifth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 51.09, set two weeks ago at A&M.
Jordan Edmondson (1:49.31) sits fifth in the 800m, while Marcus Gaitan (1:50.13) is right behind in seventh.
