
Men’s Golf Closes Day One of Argent Financial Classic in Second Place

Choudrant, La. — The Rice Men's Golf team fired a seven-under 281 to sit in second-place after one round of the season-opening Argent Financial Classic, Sunday from Squire Creek Country Club.
The Owls are one stroke back of leader Louisiana, who finished the day at -8.
In his first career collegiate round, freshman Raines Watson leads the Owls in a tie for fifth-place after firing a three-under 69.
Starting on the 10th hole, Watson birdied the 11th. After a birdie on 17, he finished his first nine with a bogey. But, on the par-five second hole, he recorded his first eagle. He then closed his round with seven straight pars.
Senior Lukas Boandl and sophomore Daniel Zou are tied for 10th-place, carding a two-under 70. It is Boandl's 39th career round of par or better, and Zou's 22nd.
Junior Jaivir Pande, playing as an individual, carded a one-under 71 to sit in a 22nd-place tie. It is his 10th career round of par or better.
Senior Henry Daly, playing in his first tournament at Rice since his freshman year, is tied for 35th-place after posting an even par 72. It is his eighth career round of par or better.
Redshirt junior Davis Byrd is tied for 49th-place after shooting a one-over 73.
