HOUSTON – The Rice Owls men's track & field team is back in action this weekend at the University of Houston's Tom Tellez Invite.
Rice will have 24 athletes competing in 16 events this weekend.
The Owls are coming off a successful weekend at the Victor Lopez Classic, where several athletes claimed event titles and cracked into the top 10 Rice all-time lists in their respective events.
Elliot Metcalf (1500m), Andrew Murray (3000m steeplechase), Ben Tijerina (10000m) and Juan Marais (discus) all claimed event titles at the meet.
Tijerina's time of 30:27.86, moved him into ninth all-time at Rice in the 10000m. Marais also joined the top 10 list with his throw of 56.47m in the discus to move into fifth all-time at Rice.
Sultan Bakare moved into ninth all-time in the shot put with a throw of 17.32m.
