Daikin Park: Second-ranked Tennessee struck for seven early runs and never looked back, downing Rice 13-3 on Saturday in the Astros Foundation College Classic in Houston.

How it Happened: After the Vols took a 3-0 lead without collecting a hit in the top of the first, the Owls looked go respond immediately in the bottom half of the inning, loading the bases with one out on a walk to Austin Eppley and singles by Gunnet Carlson and Landon West, but Tennessee starter Marcus Phillips only surrendered one run when Eppley came home on a passed ball. They put in scoring position from the fourth through the eighth but could not push a run across until the seventh, when they scored twice on an RBI groundout by Eppley and a pinch-hit double by Graiden West, the first extra-base hit of his career.

Up Next: Rice will wrap up play in the College Classic on Sunday night when they meet top-ranked Texas A&M, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:05 p.m.

Tennessee evened the series with Rice at 1-1 with the win.
The Owls saw their home run streak end at five games.
Michael Zito led the Owls with a pair of hits, his second multi-hit game in his last three games.
