Rice hosts Lamar at 6:30 on Tuesday at Reckling Park
How it Happened: Rice jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning as Hiram Bocachica Jr. led off with a single to extend his hitting streak to seven games and Tobias Motley followed with a walk. Landon West moved both runners up 90 feet with a sacrifice bunt, and Eldridge drove both in with a long double to center field. One inning later, Green jumped on a 1-2 pitch to hammer his first career homer off the back wall of the Crawford boxes in left field to give the Owls a 3-0 lead after two innings. The Aggies drew even with two runs in the third and one in the fourth and then took control with three in the fifth. West drove in the Owls' final run of the night with an RBI single in the seventh.
Up Next: Rice returns home to open a homestand featuring six opponents over the next two weeks by hosting Lamar on Tuesday night at 6:30, followed by the first game of the Silver Glove Series on Wednesday against Houston at 6:30.
- Rice had now scored nine runs in the first inning in the first 10 games this season.
- Green was the third true freshman to homer for Owls this season, joining Bocachica and Michale Zito.
