Owls Have Strong Weekend Across Several Meets

HOUSTON – The Rice men's track and field team had several great showings across three different meets this weekend at the David Hemery Valentine Invite (BU), Howie Ryan Invite (UH) and the Jarvis Scott Open (Texas Tech).
Jackson Moran led the Owls at Boston U, finishing with a personal bets time of 4:06.62 in the mile, moving into ninth all-time at Rice. Gus Gannon had a top 100 showing in the 3000m, running a time of 8:04.08.
At the Jarvis Scott Open, Cal Abdulky finished fourth in the weight throw with a throw of 20.29m. Daniel Sowell improved on his personal best mark set last week with a throw of 18.09m.
Over at UH, Brandon Martz finished sixth in the 3000m, while Matt Kumar was seventh in the pole vault with a clearance of 4.82m.
