
Edgar Reaches Podium to Close AAC Championships

BIRMINGHAM – The Rice men's track and field team closed out the indoor season Saturday afternoon at the AAC Championships, with several athletes scoring throughout the final day of competition.
Christian Edgar had Rice's lone podium visit on the day, finishing third in the 60m hurdles.
Jackson Moran added points with a fifth-place showing in the mile while William Thames (fifth) and freshman Marcus Gaitan (eighth) both scored in the 800m.
Gus Gannon rounded out the points from the track with a seventh-place showing in the 3000m.
Two Owls grabbed points over in the shot put, with Jorge Hinojosa finishing fourth and Daniel Sowell finishing sixth.
Friday's Recap:
Cal Abdulky had the only podium visit of the day, finishing as the runner-up in the weight throw with a throw of 19.90m.
The Owls' DMR team of Marcus Gaitan, Evan Ringwald, Jordan Edmondson and Jackson Moran had a fifth-place showing.
Matt Kumar added points with a seventh-place finish in the pole vault with a clearance of 4.66m.
