
Golfers Named Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars

HOUSTON — Golfers Blake Benson, Lukas Boandl, Raghav Chugh, and Jay Kirchdorfer have been named Cobalt Golf Golf Coaches Association of America All-America Scholars, the organization announced Thursday afternoon.
To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior academically in Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or receiving their Associate's Degree and in their last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA. In addition, they must have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2.
Benson earns the honor for the second straight year. He finished the year with a 75.81 stroke average. He tied the best round of his career with a final round 69 at the Louisiana Classics.
Boandl was third on he team with a 73.88 stroke average and recorded seven rounds of par or better. He began the year with the best finish of his career, tying for 12th-place at the Argent Financial Classic. He also tied for 13th-place at the Hoosier Collegiate.
Chugh earned the award for the second consecutive season after leading the team with a 73.39 stroke average and was third on the team with eight rounds of par or better. He had a season-best 11th-place at the Grier Jones Shocker Invitational at -6, and tied his career-best round with the 67 in the second round.
Jay Kirchdorfer was fourth on the team with a 74.09 stroke average while leading the squad with 10 rounds of par or better. He finished -12 and runner-up at the Grier Jones Shocker Invitational, where he set career lows for round (67), 36-hole score (135), and 54-hole score (204). His 36-hole score of 135 tied the school record. The -12 and 54-hole score of 204 are both the second lowest in school history.
