
Seniors Shine in Final Game at Reckling

Owls rout TSU 16-5, head to ECU for crucial series to end regular season.
Reckling Park: Nathan Becker, Ben Dukes, Pierice Gallo, and Jack Riedel made their last home game at Reckling Park a memorable one combining for 10 hits, three home runs, and nine RBI as Rice raced past Texas Southern 16-5 on Tuesday afternoon.
The Details: After spotting TSU an early 4-0 lead, Rice cut the lead in half as Jack Riedel and Pierce Gallo hit back-to-back, solo homers in the second and then took command with an eight-run third inning. Aric Anderson, who was making his first start at catcher since March 26, slammed the first pitch he saw over the wall in right to open the third with his first career home run. Jacob Devenny and Ben Dukes followed with singles and then advanced on a double steal. Treyton Rank followed with a walk and Devenny came home on a passed ball on the four ball to Rank. Riedel followed with an RBI single to put Rice ahead. Nathan Becker followed with another run-scoring single and Gallo added an RBI double to run the Rice lead to 7-2. Tobias Motely brought in the sixth run of the inning with a sac fly Gallo came home on a passed ball and Eric Correa closed out the scoring with a steal of home. Dukes drove in a solo run in the fifth with a single and one inning later the Owls added five to close out their scoring. With one out in the sixth, Gallo mashed his sixth homer of the year and his fourth in the last four games. Anderson added an RBI double, followed by RBI singles by Dukes, Rank, and Riedel.
