Back in action on Tuesday at UH in Silver Glove finale

Wichita: Wichita State exploded for 11 runs in the fifth and six innings to complete the sweep over Rice, 15-3 on Saturday afternoon.

The Details: Rice jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first. Kyte McDonald led off with a walk and Jack Riedel followed with a walk. Treyton Rank slapped a single between first and second to bring home McDonald and after a Nathan Becker sacrifice moved Riedel and Rank up a base, Manny Garza brought Riedel home on a ground out. The lead was short-lived as the Shockers scored three in the bottom of the first and added one in the second before adding four in the fourth and seven in the fifth.

Up Next: Rice and Houston will wrap up the 2024 Silver Glove Series on Tuesday night at Schroeder Park, before the Owls open an extended slate of home games by hosting Memphis at Reckling Park next weekend.

Notes

Rice fell to 9-19 and 1-5 in the AAC.
Kyte McDonald was 2x3 at the plate, his fourth consecutive two-hit game, and concluded his return to Wichita State with six hits in 13 at bats (.461). He raised his career mark at Eck Stadium to .393 (35x89) and his season average on the road in 2024 to .396 (19x48)… He has reached base in all 12 road games this season and hit in 11 of 12.
McDonald's triple in the third inning was his third this season to set a career high.
