
Women's Tennis Poised for Showdown with No. 11 Texas A&M

The Owls: Rice is 2-4 on the season after defeating Louisiana Tech last weekend, 5-2. Graduate senior Chie Kezuka, junior Saara Orav and sophomore Darya Schwartzman each posted doubles and singles victories in the victory over the Bulldogs. Freshman Divna Ratkovic also won her singles match in the team's victory.
The Opposition: Texas A&M is ranked 11th in the nation, also boasting three players in the top 32 nationally in singles according to the latest ITA rankings. Mary Stoiana is the nation's top-ranked singles player, while Mia Kupres and Nicole Khirin rank 24th and 32nd, respectively. Stoiana and Kupres are also ranked third nationally in the ITA doubles rankings.
Rice is 10-26 all-time against the Aggies, including a 3-14 mark in College Station. Texas A&M has won four straight in the series, including wins at home and on the road plus two neutral-court victories. Prior to the streak, the Owls won two in a row against the Aggies: a 4-3 home victory on Feb. 14, 2018, and a 4-1 victory in College Station on Feb. 5, 2017.
