Amata Ties School Record at UH

HOUSTON – The Rice men's track and field team saw several top performances during the two-day Robert Platt Invitational at the University of Houston. In total, the Owls grabbed three event titles and seven top-10 finishes.
Ese Amata highlights the top performances by tying the school record in high jump with a clearance of 2.18m, tying Nigel Codrington's record from 1989. The mark also moves Amata to 16th in the NCAA.
Cal Abdulky continued his tear in weight throw, winning his second event title of the season with teammate Shaun Kerry right behind in second.
Over on the track, Elliot Metcalf grabbed his first event title of the season in the 3000-meter run, while Gus Gannon finished eighth in the race.
