Forbes Awarded Jim Castañeda Postgraduate Scholarship

DALLAS – Rice women's cross country and track and field athlete Grace Forbes was one of the 11 accomplished recipients of the 2023 Jim Castañeda Postgraduate Scholarship, the league office announced Thursday afternoon.
Forbes, one of the most decorated athletes in Rice athletics history, is a 12-time C-USA champion and holds five school records in track and field. She was the 10,000m champion at both the 2021 and 2022 NCAA West Prelims and was the runner-up at the 2022 NCAA Outdoor Championships. She had earned 13 All-Conference honors and is a five-time All-American. Forbes was named the 2022 Michael L. Slive Conference USA Female Athlete of the Year.
Forbes currently holds a 3.90 GPA in Kinesiology and was named to the 2022-23 C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll for the fourth-straight year while earning her fourth C-USA Academic Medal. She was named the 2021-22 C-USA Scholar Athlete of the Year (XC) and the 2020-21 C-USA Scholar Athlete of the Year (XC/T&F).
