Owls Host #57 Brown on Sunday

Second of five consecutive ranked opponents
In Brief: The Rice women's tennis team, currently ranked 53rd in the latest ITA computer rankings, returns to action on Sunday by hosting #57 Brown. The match is scheduled to be held as part of a combined dual with the Rice men, who are hosting William & Mary, but both matches may be forced indoor due to predicted rain on Sunday morning.
The Owls: Rice is 8-5 so far this season, 6-2 at GRBTC, and 4-0 in Conference USA. They moved back into the ITA ranking his week at No. 53. This is the second of five consecutive matches against teams currently ranked in the ITA computer rankings. It began with a 4-3 win at #30 Charlotte last Sunday and will continue next weekend with #60 South Florida and #31 FIU before wrapping up with #62 SMU on April 8.
Brown: The Bears are 11-4 this season after seeing their four-match winning streak end last Saturday vs. Boston University. They have not lost a doubles point in 15 matches this year and they are a combined 34-4 in the opening matches of duals this year.
The Series: This is the second meeting between the schools in women's tennis. Rice rebounded from a loss in doubles to win 5-2 in a match that featured four, three-set matches.
Doubling Up: Today's combined match is the third of four this season that are combined women's tennis dual. The slate of combined matches wraps up on April 8 when the men host UTSA while the women take on SMU.
George R. Brown Tennis Center: Rice has posted a 70-17 regular-season record at GRBTC (13-0 in C-USA play) since making their debut at their new home by defeating Lamar 7-0 on 1/17/15. The Owls have also posted a 6-0 postseason mark while winning a pair of Conference USA titles at home (2015 & 2019).
Up Next: The Owls continue their homestand next weekend by hosting #60 South Florida on Friday at 11 a.m. and #31 FIU on Sunday at 11 a.m.
