In Brief: Rice and FAU will bring the latest matchup of Owls vs. Owls to the George R. Brown Tennis Center on Sunday when the schools face off in women's tennis for the fourth time in history.

Home Owls: Rice is 2-4 so far this season, 1-1 at GRBTC. They have dropped their last three matches, to #3 Texas A&M at home and UCLA and San Diego in San Diego last weekend. Today's match is the first of a five-match homestand for Rice.
 
Visiting Owls: FAU is 3-8 and have dropped their last five matches, including a 4-0 loss to Texas A&M in the opening round of the College Station Regional of the ITA Kickoff Weekend.
 
The Series: Rice has won the first three meetings between the two schools, including a pair of matches last season. Rice edged FAU 4-3 in the opener of the Austin ITA Kickoff regional last February as freshman Allison Zipoli delivered her first career clinch point. The teams met again at the C-USA Championship when Maria Budin delivered the final point of a 4-0 win. The schools first met in the 2019 C-USA Championship at GRBTC, with Anna Bowtell providing the final point of a 4-2 win to move Rice into the finals.
 
George R. Brown Tennis Center: Rice has posted a 66-16 regular-season record at GRBTC (11-0 in C-USA play) since making their debut at their new home by defeating Lamar 7-0 on 1/17/15. The Owls have also posted a 6-0 postseason mark while winning a pair of Conference USA titles at home (2015 & 2019).
 
Up Next: The women will join with the Rice men to host a combined dual with Texas A&M Corpus Christi on Wednesday at 2 p.m. followed by a match next Saturday against Sam Houston at 11 a.m.
