2023-24 Season Debut
The Owls open the 2023-24 season on Monday night against Houston Christian at Tudor Fieldhouse. Rice will have its first road trip of the season next weekend at Abilene Christian and TCU.
Last Time Out
The Owls offense exploded behind a 26-point performance from Emily Klaczek as the Owls defeated Angelo State 101-47 Wednesday night in an exhibition game. Sussy Ngulefac added another 12 points on a perfect 6-of-6 shooting.
Rice vs. HCU
The Owls are 5-0 all-time against HCU, with the last matchup coming on Nov. 25, 2020 with Rice winning 83-54 at Tudor Fieldhouse. Rice is 3-0 at home against the Huskies.

Destiny Jackson is back for a fifth season with the Owls after averaging 10.6 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. Jackson led the team with 100 assists and 42 steals. Last season, she dropped a career-high 33 points in Rice's 91-88 double-overtime win against Houston.
Fisher Tabbed for Preseason Honors, Owls Picked Third
Junior forward Malia Fisher was named to the 2023 Preseason All-AAC Second Team. Fisher, an All-C-USA Second Teamer last season, was second on the team with 11.8 points per game while leading the team with 6.3 rebounds per game. She also had a team-high five double-doubles on the season. Fisher had a career-high 22 points, including the game-winning steal and layup against Louisiana Tech. Rice was selected third in the team's AAC debut, finishing behind preseason favorite South Florida and last season's champion East Carolina.
New Season, New Conference
The 2023-24 campaign marks the debut season for Rice in the American Athletic Conference. The Owls joined the AAC on July 1, 2023, after spending 18 years in Conference USA, where Rice won three regular season titles and the 2019 C-USA Tournament title.
A Historic Season
Last season, Rice wrapped up non-conference play with a perfect 9-0 record, marking the best start in program history. During the non-conference slate, Rice picked up a win over crosstown rival Houston 91-88 (2OT) and earned back-to-back wins against Power 5 programs, taking down Texas A&M in College Station 66-58 and then defending the homecourt against TCU 68-58.
