Back on the Road
The Owls head out to Nacogdoches to take on Stephen F. Austin on Saturday afternoon. Rice will be back home next Wednesday to face Texas Southern.
Last Time Out
After a slow first quarter, the Owls offense erupted for a 73-62 win over Saint Mary's last Sunday at Tudor Fieldhouse. Rice was led by Maya Bokunewicz's 26 points, tying a career high while Dominique Ennis added 13 points.

Bokunewicz drained seven threes in Rice's 73-62 win over Saint Mary's, tying the school record for threes in a game (fourth time, second for Maya). Bokunewicz joins Jenny Cafferty (Fresno State 1-27-00), Kara Liggett (San Jose State 2-17-00), Katelyn Crosthwait (UTSA 1-16-23) and herself (UAB 3-5-22) with seven in a game.
Rice vs. SFA
The Owls are 5-4 all-time against SFA, winning last year's matchup 89-77 at Tudor Fieldhouse behind Malia Fisher's double-double with 18 points and 20 rebounds. Rice is 1-3 on the road against the Ladyjacks, dropping the last three road games.
Historic Feats vs. HCU
Rice allowed only five points in the first half against HCU, marking the fewest points allowed in a half in program history. The Huskies' lone point in the first quarter also marked the fewest points scored against Rice in program history.
Fisher Tabbed for Preseason Honors, Owls Picked Third
Junior forward Malia Fisher was named to the 2023 Preseason All-AAC Second Team. Fisher, an All-C-USA Second Teamer last season, was second on the team with 11.8 points per game while leading the team with 6.3 rebounds per game. She also had a team-high five double-doubles on the season. Fisher had a career-high 22 points, including the game-winning steal and layup against Louisiana Tech. Rice was selected third in the team's AAC debut, finishing behind preseason favorite South Florida and last season's champion East Carolina.
New Season, New Conference
The 2023-24 campaign marks the debut season for Rice in the American Athletic Conference. The Owls joined the AAC on July 1, 2023, after spending 18 years in Conference USA, where Rice won three regular season titles and the 2019 C-USA Tournament title.
