Ben-Shoshan's single drives in Gallo with the game-winner
Schroeder Park: Jack Ben-Shoshan drilled a two-out, two-strike single to left to score Pierce Gallo and give Rice a 5-4 win over Houston in the final game of the 2022 Silver Glove Series on Tuesday night.
The Details: Ben-Shoshan entered the game as a pinch-runner in the 11th and came to bat in the 12th with two on and two out after Gallo had walked with one out and went to third on a single by Manny Garza. After fouling off one two-strike pitch, he slapped a single to left to snap the Owls' nine-game losing streak. Garret Zaskoda worked the final three innings to pick up his first win of the year. Connor Walsh carried the Owls into extra innings by blasting a long home run and a pair of doubles, scoring three of the Owls' runs and driving in a pair. Guy Garibay added an RBI of his own, driving in Walsh with a sacrifice fly. Parker Smith started for the Owls, completing a sweep of the starting assignments in the Silver Glove and put together his longest outing since his first start of the year.
