In Brief: Rice opens the first of two weekends of road tests when the 49th ranked Owls meet No. 48 Arizona in Tempe on Friday at 4 p.m. followed by a meeting with No. 32 Arizona State on Saturday at 1 p.m. Both matches will be played at ASU's Whiteman Tennis Center.

The Owls: Rice enters the weekend 11-3 (4-0 in conference play) and ranked 49th in the ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings sponsored by Tennis-Point .
Arizona: The Wildcats are 13-6 this season and moved in front of the Owls in the rankings after defeating No. 45 Oregon on the road last weekend. The schools last met in 2017 with Arizona edging the Owls 4-3 in a match that came down to the third set on the final court. Rice's last win in the series came one year earlier, 6-1 at GRBTC.
Arizona State: The Sun Devils are 8-6 (7-1 at home) and ranked 32nd this week in the ITA rankings. This marks the third consecutive year the schools have met, having each won the initial home match. ASU dropped the Owls 4-2 in 2020 while Rice took a 5-2 win last year at GRBTC.

- Rice is 10-1 when winning the doubles point and picked up their first win of the year when dropping doubles last Saturday against North Texas.
- Anna Bowtell is 11-2 overall in singles this year and 88-30 in her career. She needs two wins to become the 10th Owl to reach 90 career singles wins and four wins to tie Blair DiSesa (92-59) for ninth. Her career winning percentage (.746) ranks fourth behind Wendy Wood (.803), Natalie Beazant (.779) and Tracie Blumentritt (.773) and just ahead of Savannah Durkin (.744). She is 9-2 in dual match singles this spring and will reach double figures for the fifth consecutive year with her next dual match win.
