Hicks Picks Up Third Victory of Season at Howie Ryan Invitational

Final meet before C-USA Indoor Championships
HOUSTON, Texas - The Rice Owls men's track and field team competed in their final meet of the indoor regular season on Friday by sending eight athletes to the Howie Ryan Invitational, hosted by the University of Houston at Yeoman Fieldhouse.
Junior thrower Nicks Hicks picked up his third victory of the season in the weight throw, unleashing a season-best throw of 20.74m on his very first attempt. That mark currently ranks No. 37 in the NCAA this season.
Also collecting a top-three finish was freshman Davis Thames, who placed third in the mile with a personal best time of 4:14.07.
The Owls will next travel to Birmingham, Alabama Feb. 19-20 for the Conference USA Indoor Championships, which will take place at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
