Golf Returns to the Course for the Tempest Collegiate

HOUSTON — After a strong showing at the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational, the Rice Golf team gets right back on the course when it travels to Gladewater, Texas for the Tempest Collegiate, Oct. 9-11.
 
TEAM FIELD
 
Joining Rice in the 11-team field are Central Michigan, Houston Christian, Incarnate Word, Louisiana-Lafayette, Nicholls State, Stephen F. Austin, South Alabama, Texas State, UT-Arlington and UTRGV.

Raghav Chugh – No. 1 position … second on the team with a 70.00 stroke average … team-high five rounds of par or better … three rounds in the 60's … had the best tournament finish of his career, tying for second-place at the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational … his performance earned his Conference USA Co-Golfer of the Week … Conference USA Freshman of the Year … Conference USA All-Freshman Team.
Henry Daly – No. 2 position … leads the team with a 69.83 stroke average … second on the team with four rounds of par or better … also has a team-best four rounds in the 60's … two top-20 finishes … in his first career tournament, finished six-under par in a tie for 12th-place at the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate, where he fired two rounds in the 60's … followed with a tie for 11th-place at the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational.
 
Jay Kirchdorfer – No. 3 position … graduate transfer from Kentucky … third on the team with a 71.67 stroke average … has three rounds of par or better … had the best finish of his career at the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational, where he tied for 14th-place … opened the tournament by firing a career-best 68, his first career round in the 60's … twice carded a 70 at the season-opening Jim Rivers Intercollegiate.
 
Lukas Boandl – No. 4 position … has a 74.00 stroke average … made his first career start at the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate … tied for 59th-place at the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational … carded his first career round of par or better in the first round by shooting an even par 70.

The Owls will tee off from the first hole starting at 8:20 a.m. CT. Rice will compete in groups with student-athletes from Louisiana-Lafayette, South Alabama and Texas State. Monday and Tuesday's tee times and pairings will depend on results following the previous round.
