Metcalf and Dowd Lead Owls at C-USA Cross Country

Owls finish fourth
DENTON, TX – The Rice Owls men's cross country team finished in fourth for the second year in a row this Saturday morning at the Conference USA Championships race, amassing 107 points and two all-conference performances.
Sophomore Elliot Metcalf and Junior Travis Dowd earn all-conference honors with their efforts on Saturday. Metcalf finished 20th with an 8k time of 25:30 to earn third-team honors while Dowd followed just behind in 25:41 to finish 21st. Freshman Grant Samara (25:41), Junior Daniel Cohen (25:50), and Freshman Jackson Moran (26:16) all finished inside the top 30, rounding out the scoring for Rice.
"We packed up very well today which resulted in solid team performance," said Coach Jon Warren. "We had a 20 second spread from 1-4 and 45 seconds from 1-5. Elliot and Travis earned all-conference honors leading this tight pack. Overall, it was a good day, and the team gave solid performances."
The Owls now will set their sight on the NCAA South Central Regional, which will be hosted by Texas A&M on Nov.11.
