Owls Make Strides at Cowboy Jamboree

STILLWATER - The Rice Owls men's cross country team had a strong showing at the team's first full-length race of the season, competing at Oklahoma State's Cowboy Jamboree. Rice had five finish in the top half of the race as the Owls finished 12th out of the 18 teams.
Gus Gannon led the Owls for the second consecutive meet, finishing 36th with a time of 24:46.7 for the 8k race. Ben Tijerina (25:18.7) finished 60th with Jackson Moran (25:39.3) following in 83rd.
Brandon Martz was in 88th with a sub 26-minute race, while Ben Pearce rounded out the top five placers for the Owls, finishing in 100th.
Rice will be back in action on Oct. 17 at Texas A&M's Arturo Barrios Invitational.
