Gannon Leads Owls at Arturo Barrios

COLLEGE STATION - The Rice Owls had another successful meet Friday morning at Texas A&M's Arturo Barrios Invite (8k), with Rice finishing in 12th out of a highly competitive 35-team field.
Post-Meet Reaction: Head Coach Jon Warren
"We are moving in the right direction. Gus had yet another solid outing for us this season while Jackson was tremendous today. They both helped pace the group to 12th and to finishing higher than Baylor, LSU and several American schools. We were out of the top 10 by just a few points and had a few instances where we lost positioning in the final stretch so we can build upon this for conference and regionals so we finish strong and not move backwards to end races."
Gus Gannon secured back-to-back top 25 finishes at the Arturo Barrios meet, finishing in 23rd with a time of 23:44.5. Jackson Moran finished within the top 50 at spot 47 with a time of 24:06.7.
Ben Tijerina was 18 seconds behind Moran in 81st, with Brandon Martz (108 – 24:41.8) and Andrew Murray (150 – 25:08.6) rounded out Rice's top five runners.
Rice will be back in action on Nov. 1 at the American Conference Cross Country Championships in Charlotte, N.C.
