Owls Finish Fifth at American Championships
11/1/2025 7:33:00 PM | Men's Cross Country
CHARLOTTE - The Rice men's cross country team had a great showing at the 2025 American Conference Championships Saturday morning in Charlotte, N.C., finishing fifth overall as a team.
Post-Meet Reaction: Head Coach Jon Warren
"Today was a solid outing by our group. It was great to see our five guys pack in together and finish one to five within 56 seconds (and 26 second two to five). This is a good step forward. We have been trying to pack up better and we did much better here than in other meets this season. I'm looking forward to seeing how we can carry this performance into the regional meet in two weeks, but overall, this was a good meet for our group."
Gus Gannon led the way with finishing in 24th with a time of 24:33.3. Ben Tijerina and Jackson Moran finished back-to-back in 40th and 41st, respectively.
Brandon Martz (46) and Marcus Gaitan (49) rounded out the top finishers for the Owls as all five scorers finished within the top 50.
The Owls will head to Fayetteville, Ark., for the NCAA South Central Regional on Nov. 14.
