Texarkana, Ark. — Freshman golfer Rodrigo Martin fired an even par 72 to finish four-under par and tie for sixth-place at the Conference USA Championships.
It was his first career top-10 finish. The 72 is his sixth round of par or better. Martin also set a career-low with a 54-hole score of 212, which tied Rice's fourth lowest 54-hole score all-time at the C-USA Championships.
Senior Jake Benson fired his second straight 69, tying his season-best round. He finished three-over par in a tie for 31st-place. The 69 was his team-high fourth round in the 60's this year and 13th in his career. It was also his sixth round of par or better this year and 42nd of his career, moving him past Mitchell Meissner (2014-18) for third-place at Rice since 1991.
Juniors Harrison Hineline and Jack Diamond both carded a final round 75 to tie for 53rd-place at 10-over par. Senior Rishi Kejriwal rounded out the day with his second best round of the season, posting a 73 to finish in 59th-place.
Rice tied for 10th-place with UTEP at 11-over par after carding a 289. North Texas' Vicente Marzilio earned medalist honors at 11-under par, one stroke in front of UAB's Khavish Varadan.

"I'm really disappointed we couldn't contend this week. The guys fought hard all year in a really strong schedule. We have a lot of talent on our squad and I have no doubts about our improvement in the years to come. It was great to see Jake (Benson) bounce back the way he did after struggling in the first round. Rodrigo (Martin) played solid and had a shot at the title. There's a lot of potential with this crew."
