Host Texas Tech at 11 a.m. on Saturday
Houston: The Rice women's tennis team remained unbeaten at home, downing Texas A&M Corpus Christi 4-0 at a blustery George R. Brown Tennis Center on Thursday.
Doubles: The Owls (3-2) remained undefeated in doubles at home, taking matches at the first and third lines to stake out an early lead against the Islanders, who lost for the first time in nine decisions.
Singles: Maria Budin, Federica Trevisan and Anna Bowtell each picked up their third singles win of the dual season to provide the clinching points for the Owls, with Bowtell providing the clinching point with her 15th consecutive singles win in dual action on her home court.
Elizabeth Schmidt: "It was a quick turnaround after the LSU match (on Sunday) and I was really proud of the way we stepped up to face the competition and not let the conditions be a factor. We have a great deal of respect for their program and the windy conditions were right up their alley. Playing in the wind requires a certain mindset and approach to your shots. We are used to it, but you could see that they were very comfortable playing in the wind so there was no home court advantage. We'll be back on the practice courts tomorrow to get ready for Texas Tech on Saturday. We've had some great battles with them over the years and expect nothing different on Saturday."
Up Next: The Owls wrap up weekend action by hosting Texas Tech (2-0) on Saturday at 11 a.m.
