Owls Open Fall Campaign in Strong Fashion

In Brief: The Rice women's tennis team opened their fall season in strong fashion, sweeping all 11 singles matches and taking six of seven doubles matches at the Houston Fall Tournament that wrapped up play on Sunday. The tournament featured round robin play in singles and doubles between the Owls, North Texas, SMU and host Houston.
Elizabeth Schmidt: "After a good month of training as a team, it was nice to get back out on the competition court against other schools. Great for our freshmen to get their first wins as Rice Owls and I pleased with the improvement we showed in doubles from day 1 to day 2. We'll take what we learned from this weekend as we get back to the practice court this week in preparation for regionals."

Up Next: Sophomore Federica Trevisan, who picked up a win in singles on Saturday, opens play in the singles qualifying round of the 2021 ITA All-American on Monday morning in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. Trevisan will face Megan Davies of South Carolina at 8 a.m. on Monday.
