In Brief: The Rice men's tennis team (2-3) wraps up a three-match homestand by hosting Abilene Christian at 1 p.m. on Sunday at the George R. Brown Tennis Center.

Abilene Christian The Wildcats (5-3 prior a doubleheader with New Mexico State and UTPB on Saturday) won the Southland Conference regular season title in 2019 before falling to Texas A&M Corpus Christi in the conference tournament title match. They have won their last four matches after dropping a 4-3 decision at Texas Tech on January 20. This will be the 11th meeting between the two schools with Rice holding a 10-0 lead. The Owls won the most recent meeting 4-3 in Abilene in 2018, which was the first time the Wildcats played host to the Owls. The schools have met twice at GRBTC, the last a 4-1 win for Rice in 2017.
Owls Notables:
George R. Brown Tennis Center: Rice has posted a 54-18 regular season record at GRBTC (6-5 vs. ranked teams) since opening for the 2015 dual season. The Owls have also posted a 3-1 postseason mark while hosting a pair of Conference USA championships, including a 3-0 mark while winning the 2016 title.
The Schedule Ahead: The Owls are scheduled to face three of the top 15 teams in the latest Oracle/ITA National Top 25 (@#7 Texas A&M on 2/21; #11 TCU at GRBTC on 3/11 and @#4 and defending NCAA Champion Texas on 3/8). The schedule features seven other teams who were ranked in the final 2019 collegiate rankings, including home matches with LSU (#48) and Middle Tennessee (#68). The Owls also take on six Conference USA schools (Charlotte, FAU, MTSU, Southern Miss, UAB and UTSA) in the regular season for the first time since Rice joined the conference in 2005.
Next Up: Rice hits the road next week to take on 7th ranked Texas A&M on Friday, February 21 at 6 p.m. The Owls return to GRBTC two days later when the join with the Rice women's team to host LSU in a simultaneous dual at 11 a.m. on February 23.
