DALLAS - Rice sophomore Grace Forbes was named to the 2020 Conference USA Women's Cross Country All-Academic Team, the league office announced on Tuesday.
A native of Wallingford, Pa., Forbes boasts a 3.92 GPA and is currently undeclared. Forbes posted a dominant performance at the C-USA Championships last month, becoming just the third Owl in the team's history to win an individual title.
Last year's C-USA Freshman of the Meet won by nearly a full minute with a time of 19:58.60 in the 6K race and punched her ticket to the NCAA Championships, to be held March 15, 2021 at Oklahoma State.
Forbes was named to the Rice University President's Honor Roll as a freshman, as well as the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and earned a C-USA Academic Medal. Forbes was also recognized by the USTFCCCA as an individual for the cross country season last year.
The all-academic team consists of six student-athletes that have earned a 3.2 cumulative grade point average or better and are a key member on their team.
