Rice Concludes Exhibition Slate At 1-0-1
HOUSTON – The Rice soccer team scored four unanswered goals for a 4-1 victory over visiting Lamar in an exhibition match Saturday evening at the Owls' Holloway Field.
Rice was paced by senior forward Haley Kostyshyn, who scored a goal on one of her two shots and registered the assist on a goal by true freshman Shiloh Miller. Sophomore standout Delaney Schultz also recorded a goal and an assist. Senior midfielder Lianne Mananquil tallied a pair of assists, including one a textbook corner kick early in the second half.
The Blue & Gray finished the exhibition with a total of 19 shots overall with 11 on-goal. Owl goalkeeper Maya Hoyer recorded three saves playing 45 minutes in the second half.
The Owls have concluded the exhibition portion of the schedule. Rice officially opens the season on August 22 on the road at Oral Roberts.
