The Owls were in control midway through the contest, taking an 8-4 lead after the first five innings. The Sooners rallied to tie the game with four runs in the top of the sixth and then sent 15 men to the plate in a nine-run eighth.
Rice collected 13 hits in the game, led by Bradley Gneiting's 3-for-5 day with a run scored. Sophomore catcher Justin Collins went 2-for-4 with a homer to drive in two runs. Cade Edwards registered three RBI with a bases-loaded triple in the fifth. Seven different Owls saw action on the mound. Senior Evan Kravetz made his fourth start and left with the lead after striking out eight in 5.0 innings.
Rice is now 7-9 on the season. Oklahoma improved to 12-3 overall. The weekend series concludes Sunday with a start time of 12:30 pm.
