Owls Drop 5-2 Decision to Princeton

The Lead: Rice dropped a 5-2 decision to No. 49 Princeton in the first two matches for the Owls this weekend in New Jersey.
Doubles: Rice rallied to take the doubles point, with the 57th ranked team of Priya Niezgoda and Anastasia Smirnova clinching the point with a 6-3 win at the first line. Princeton opened play with a win at the second position, but Anna Bowtell and Victoria Smirnova evened things with a 6-2 win
Singles: Princeton used a pair of tiebreak wins to take five of six first sets in singles and maintained the pressure through the match to pick up its 10th win of the year. Diae El Jardi battled back from a loss in her first set to post a three-set win over the Tigers Tiffany Chen to score the Owls second point of the day.
Up Next: Rice closes out the brief road trip on Saturday when they face William & Mary at Princeton's facility. First sets are set for noon (central).
