Oklahoma State Tops Rice Saturday On The Road

STILLWATER, Okla. – Undefeated Big 12 foe Oklahoma State claimed a 69-38 home win over the visiting Rice women's basketball team Saturday afternoon in Stillwater, Okla.

The Owls are now 2-3 on the season. Oklahoma State improved to 5-0 on the year.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter
Oklahoma State built an early 8-4 lead in the opening minutes of the contest, but Rice drained three-straight three-pointers by Erica Ogwumike (2) and Lauren Schwartz (1) to take a 13-8 lead with just over four minutes remaining in the period. The Owls held on for 17-15 advantage to close out the quarter.
Second Quarter
OSU charged back with 10-of-17 shooting, including three three-pointers, to take a 42-21 lead at the intermission. The Cowgirls' scored 13 points off turnovers and the OSU bench contributed nine points
Third Quarter
Rice played better after the intermission but OSU was still able to stretch the margin to 26, 54-28. Ten of the Cowgirls' points in the quarter were in the paint.
Fourth Quarter
Rice continued to fight and put ten points on the board in the quarter. Five different Owls contributed to the scoring and the team outrebounded OSU on the defensive glass 7-5.
Rice Stat Leaders
Erica Ogwumike led Rice with 14 points, seven rebounds and a pair of assists in 32 minutes of playing time. Lauren Schwartz finished with nine points, one assist and one steal. She was 4-of-4 from the free-throw line.

The Owls' two-game road swing concludes on Wednesday (Nov. 27). Rice plays McNeese at 12 noon in Lake Charles, La.
