Bridgeport, W.V. — Rice is in fifth-place in a suspended second round of the Health Plan Mountaineer Invitational, hosted by West Virginia and played at the par-72, 7,308-yard Pete Dye Golf Club.

The second round was suspended due to darkness.

Junior Jake Benson is searching for his third straight top ten finish to open the season. He is currently tied for 11th-place at three-over par. He started the day with a 74, and is one-over through 15 holes of the second round.

Senior Nicholas Duggan is tied for 15th-place at four-over par after posting a 73 while sitting three-over par through 14 holes. Sophomore Harrison Hineline is six-over par and tied for 21st-place. He began the day with a 79 but is one-under par through 15 holes.

"Today was a grind," said Rice head coach Justin Emil. "It rained most of the day and at the beginning we let it get to us. We were able to rally in the second round but we still have some work to do tomorrow."

Florida Atlantic leads the tournament at four-over par, one stroke in front of West Virginia. Youngstown State's Kevin Scherr leads the individual tournament at three-under par, one stroke in front of FAU's Alex Maguire.
