Evan Marshman scored twice in the loss
Rice took an early 7-0 lead, but FIU scored on seven straight possessions as the Owls fell, 36-17, Saturday night.
The Story
Rice came out fast, scoring on its opening drive to take an early 7-0. FIU scored 16 straight pants, but Haden Tobola's career-long 47-yard field goal sent Rice into halftime trailing 16-10. FIU scored on its first two possessions of the second half. Evan Marshman then scampered 22 yards for his second touchdown. But, the Panthers added 10 points to put the game away.
Starting off Strong
Rice went 75 yards in 12 plays to score on its opening drive. It was just the second time this year that Rice scored a touchdown on its opening drive and the first time since the season-opener against Prairie View A&M.
Next Up
Rice goes back on the road next Saturday, Oct. 27, when it travels to Denton to face North Texas at 3 p.m.
