Waco, Texas - The Rice Owls men's cross country team placed 10th in a field of 19 teams at the NCAA South Central Regional that was hosted by Baylor at the Cottonwood Creek Golf Course. Head coach Jon Warren's squad came across the finish line with 227 points. Arkansas won the team title with 47 points as it had three runners in the top 10 (first, second, and seventh) and Texas was second with 74 points.
The top two teams from each of the nine NCAA regionals, along with 13 at-large teams, earn bids to the NCAA Championships. Individually, the top four runners not on a qualifying team can earn a bid as well.
Senior Simon Bucknell was Rice's top finisher with a 32nd place. He completed the 10k course in a time of 32:29.6. Michael Trejo was next at 38th with a time of 32.44.7. All six of Rice's runners placed in the top 100
