Owls Make Strides at Arturo Barrios Invitational

COLLEGE STATION - The Rice Owls men's cross country competed in another competitive and massive field at the Arturo Barrios Invitational at Texas A&M. Gus Gannon paced the Owls once again, leading the team to an 18th-place finish as a team.

"It was a very solid overall performance. eight guys under 25 minutes is really impressive. This was a good step towards conference."
Gannon continued to shine, finishing 25th with a time of 23:23.2 for the 8k race. Elliot Metcalf followed about thirty seconds later to finish in 83rd.
Ben Tijerina, Jackson Moran and Wesley Wright rounded out the Rice scorers for the meet.
The Owls saw two teams from the AAC also competing at the meet, with North Texas finishing 16th as a team and UTSA 36th as a team.
Rice will be back in action on Nov. 2 at the AAC Championships, hosted by Wichita State.
