WICHITA - The Rice Owls men's cross country battled through adversity at the 2024 American Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships, finishing in eighth as a team.
Post-Meet Reaction: Head Coach Jon Warren
"It wasn't as bad as the saying 'everything that could go wrong did go wrong,' but it was down that avenue today. These are good kids, and we will bounce back."
Ben Tijerina lead the Owls, finishing 22nd for the 8k race with a time of 25:02.0. Jackson Moran and Wesley Wright followed 40 seconds later in 45th and 46th.
Will McDermott and Elliot Metcalf rounded out the Rice scorers with a 53rd and 57th finish, respectively.
The Owls were holding steady in fourth place as a team, but injuries limited the Owls chances to finish high in the standings.
