Taylor Fogleman assisted Elizabeth Schmidt in guiding the Rice women's program for three seasons (2015-17), as the Owls won three consecutive C-USA titles during his time on South Main..
Fogleman came to Rice after three seasons as the women's assistant coach at Tulane. During his time at Tulane, he was named the 2013 ITA Southern Region Assistant Coach of the Year after helping lead the Green Wave to a 19-6 overall record, a season-high national ranking of No. 52 and the Wave advanced to within one match of playing for the Conference USA Championship.
Tulane's 19 victories were the most wins for the team since the 2004-05 campaign. Tulane was ranked No. 58 in the final national poll and was No. 4 in the final Southern Region. TU recorded victories over three teams in the national rankings, including Penn State (51), Ohio State (59), College of Charleston (63).
With the help of Fogleman's tutelage, four Green Wave ranked among the top-20 singles players in the Southern Region, including senior Mariam Kurdadze (7) and the junior trio of Emma Levy (14), Caroline Magnusson (17) and Caroline Thornton (20). TU's top doubles teams were also among the region's best. The No. 1 duo of Kurdadze and Levy are ranked No. 7, while the No. 2 tandem of Magnusson and Thornton are No. 8.
A native of New Orleans and a 2005 graduate of Jesuit High School, Fogleman, 26, fashioned an All-American career at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill where he was a four-year letterman and two-time first team All-America standout from 2005-09.
During his career, he led the Tar Heels in both singles and doubles victories in his final three seasons and helped lead UNC to 87 wins and four straight trips the NCAA Tournament, including a pair of Round of 16 appearances.
In 2008, Fogleman advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals and finished fourth in the nation in doubles. During his senior campaign, he was named to the 2009 All-Atlantic Coast Conference team as well as the All-ACC Academic Honor Roll and was an NCAA Semifinalist.
Fogleman eclipsed 100 career doubles wins during his final season and served as a team captain.
