At Rice -- 2008: C-USA Commissioner[apos]s Academic Honor Roll... Played in six games with two starts in first season at the Division I level... All but one appearance, including both starts, was at designated hitter... Made first career start, and second career appearance, in front of more than 6,500 fans against 13th-ranked Texas on the road in Austin... Started in the home win over NCAA Tournament-bound Sam Houston State... Came off the bench to collect first career hit, while also driving in a run, against Conference USA foe UAB... Later walked and scored against the Blazers... Lone defensive appearance was at first base in the second meeting with NCAA Tournament-bound Dallas Baptist.
High School -- Valedictorian of the 2007 Lawrence High School class... One of three finalists for Kansas male athlete of the year his senior year... Three-year starter and letterman for coach Brad Stoll... Finished senior year with a .474 batting average and was second team all-state... Helped the Lions to a third place finish in the 2007 state playoffs... Also an all-state selection in football... Kansas Honor Scholar... Member of the National Honor Society.

Uncle, John Buxton, played football at the University of Montana and aunt, Sarah Buxton, played basketball at Arizona. Active with Habitat for Humanity. College: Brown.
