2023: Owls' active career leader with 56 appearances, including a career-high 25 appearances (24 relief, 1 start) and 20 strikeouts in 2023... Allowed only five of 25 inherited runners to score... Tied for the team lead with 14 appearances in conference action and second on tied for second with 24 relief outings and two saves (first of his career)... Recorded his first career save vs. Sam Houston on 2/22 getting a bases-loaded strikeout looking to end the game… Earned his second save of the season vs. HCU, striking out the last two hitters... Struck out three in 1.1 innings at Lamar on 3/28 while picking up his first win of the year and struck out the side in one inning vs. LA Tech to pick up his second win.
2022: Appeared in a career-high 18 games (all in relief) and posted career highs in innings (20) and strikeouts (15)… Retired 13 first batters faced, third-best total on the squad… Worked his season-high of 2.2 innings in his first outing of the year (2/18 at Texas) and worked two innings three additional times… Worked in back-to-back games vs. WKU and allowed a run in three innings.
2021: Made eight relief appearances, working a season-high 2 frames in his final outing, vs. Southern Miss on 4/30.
2020: Worked his way into the most innings on the pitching staff (12.1) of any of the Owls’ true freshmen… Appeared in five games overall, all out of the bullpen… First reliever called in the season’s opening game against nationally-ranked Texas, and pitched a steady 3.0 innings where he allowed a run on two hits and had a strikeout… Fired a pair of scoreless innings at west coast power UC Irvine, then registered his first Division I victory with a career-long 4.1 shutout frames and career-best three strikeouts against Missouri State… Closed out the abbreviated season holding opposing hitters to a composite .205 batting average, the second-best mark on the staff (minimum 6.0 innings).
Before Rice: A 2019 graduate of Goose Creek Memorial H.S in Baytown, Texas… Batted .393 with a .607 slugging percentage for the Patriots as a senior in 2019… coached by Brian Williams… Ranked as the No. 12 prep shortstop in the state according to PerfectGame.
