Owls Open Week by Hosting Lamar in Final Midweek Home Game

Final 713 Night of the Year
Rice opens its final four-game homestand of 2026 on Tuesday when the Owls host Lamar at 6:35 p.m. in the final nonconference home game of the season. The homestand concludes over the weekend when Rice hosts American Conference co-leader UAB over the weekend.
LAST CHANCE FOR DOLLAR DOGS: Tuesday's game with Lamar is the final 713 Night of 2026, where fans can purchase tickets for $7, enjoy $3 beer, and $1 hotdogs. In addition, the first 200 fans to purchase a beverage at The Roost located down the rightfield line will receive a souvenir "Rice Guys!" cup.
ON THE AIR: Jason Metko will call the action on RiceOwls.com and the Varsity Network app+ as well as a simulcast on ESPN+.

OWLS & CARDINALS: The schools began meeting in baseball in 1952, and Rice holds an overall 88-53 lead in the series, including a 54-24 lead in games at Rice and an 18-9 mark at Reckling Park.
STEPPING UP: Zachary Daigre went into last weekend's series at Wichita State hitting .167 on the season (3x18), but was 6x9 against the Shockers when injuries thrust him into the starting lineup. He matched his season total for hits in the opener on Friday, finishing 3x4 and scoring the Owls' run. On Saturday, he beat out a ground ball to the first baseman to drive in the second of the Owls' runs in a 3-2 win, and on Sunday, he added his second career multi-hit game, which included his second infield single to the first baseman.
HOME FRONT: Rice is 13-10 this season at Reckling Park and has won three of five home series (six of the last eight since last season). The Owls have not posted a winning season at home since they were 15-13-1 in 2018. In the 178 home games between 2019 and David Pierce's first home game as the Bixby Family Head Baseball Coach, Rice posted a .393 home winning percentage (70-108). The Owls are 21-18 (.538) at home under Pierce.
UP NEXT: Rice welcomes American Conference co-leader UAB to Reckling Park this weekend in a key three-game series as the race to qualify for the conference tournament enters its last three weeks. The series opens at 6:35 on Friday, followed by 2:05 on Saturday then wraps at 1:05 on Sunday.
